WELCOME !
LOON WAH first opened its door in 1978 in San
Ramon, California, and then moved in 1980 to San Jose. In 1996, we
moved again to a new own building.
Private banquet facility seats up to
250 customers.
“LOON” (龍), meaning Dragon, is a
traditional symbol of Chinese royalty and nobility. In ancient time,
the Imperial Robe of the Emperor was brilliantly embroidered with
dragons as an emblem of prosperity and power. During the celebration
of Chinese New Year, the Dragon Dance is performed to scare away
evil spirits and ensure good luck and wealth for the coming year.
“WAH” (華), is the original character used for
flowers and blossoms in ancient times. It was later replaced and
took on a broader meaning that of splendor, brilliance, beauty,
glory and grandness. It’s also widely used as an abbreviation for
“China” or “Chinese”.
All of us here at LOON WAH restaurant wish to
bring our guests not only the most delectable Chinese cuisine, but
also the best of luck and prosperity for years to come. Hong Kong
and Mandarin style dim sum served DAILY and "ALL DAY".
How to Order:
Chinese food is served “family style” with
something for everyone, rather than a main entrée for each
individual. For two persons, for instance, and appetizer, a soup
plus two to three dishes and rice is enough. For larger groups,
order as any dishes as there are persons in the party, plus the “one
for the table”, including rice. In the case of seven people or more,
instead of ordering a large number of dishes, you can select a
certain number and have “double orders.” For dining convenience,
pre-selected complete Family Dinners are also found in the menu.
(Luncheon and Banquet menus for groups of eight or more can be
arranged in advance for special occasions.)
Cantonese cooking relies heavily on seasonal
vegetable and tropical produce, emphasizing the natural flavors of
the food by using lightly seasoned oyster sauce and black bean or
garlic sauce. Mandarin cooking is liberal in its use of hot pepper,
plum sauce and is usually served with heavy and hot spicy sauce.
Our staff is always at hand if there are any
questions regarding your dining experience at LOON WAH. It is our
duty as well as pleasure to help you with whatever is needed.
